Jagged Peaks and Alpine Charm
Daisetsuzan National Park, located in Hokkaido, is Japan’s largest national park and a breathtaking natural paradise, famous for its volcanic landscapes, alpine meadows, crystal-clear rivers, and relaxing hot springs.
Spanning over 2,300 square kilometers, Daisetsuzan National Park is a vast and rugged wilderness area nestled in the heart of Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost island. Known as the “roof of Hokkaido,” the park boasts majestic volcanic peaks, such as Mount Asahi and Mount Kurodake, surrounded by diverse ecosystems ranging from dense forests to alpine flower fields. Visitors can explore scenic hiking trails, soak in natural hot springs (onsen), and observe unique wildlife including brown bears, red foxes, and Ezo deer. The park is especially stunning in autumn, when vibrant fall foliage blankets the mountainsides, and in winter, when snow transforms the area into a serene white wonderland perfect for snowshoeing and backcountry skiing. Whether you seek peaceful solitude or mountain adventure, Daisetsuzan offers an unforgettable nature experience in the heart of Japan.
